St Teath, 10 - 15th February

Friday 10 February
Off to Cornwall today.  Last minute whizz round with the vacuum and visits from Rob and Maria before we get the car loaded up and wave goodbye to a forlorn Sammy as we bid Maesbury goodbye at 10:30am.

Straightforward route down the M6 and we make it to Bristol to pick up some mail, with time to call briefly on Sheryn for a cup of tea before heading off again. Traffic is clear and we make it to St Teath just after 4:30pm.

Liz is waiting to welcome us with tea and chocolate cake and we spend a very pleasant evening  with a lovely roast chicken and wine.

Saturday 11 February

This morning we go to Liz's holiday let just around the corner to set up for the afternoon's guests then Aaron heads south for rugby and the kids and I remain at home. Kids spend a good part of the afternoon talking to Lydia and Zac on skype and later in the afternoon we take Yarna out for a wander  around the village. Early evening the usual dog walkers call in for a drink and a chat before we sit down to another lovely meal followed by a summer pudding.


Sunday 12 February

Liz set off on her trip to South Africa this morning, leaving us to settle into the house. Did a bit of sorting out, making room for our stuff and find homes for things, sorted out the heating at the holiday let and I did a quick trip to Wadebridge for groceries before taking Yarna for a walk around the lanes amidst masses of starlings.


Monday 13th February

school work to be done but after lunch Aidan & I take Yarna on a good walk, coming home with blisters and sore calves from holding onto her on the rather steep downhill sections.

Wednesday 15th February

Time for an outing, so Holly and I churned through some work while Aaron & Aidan walked Yarna, then we loaded ourselves into the car and drove across to Tintagel.  By now the sun had come out and it was glorious though typically windy on the coast.

Very quiet in the village still, but plenty of people out on the headland due to half term.

Spectacular views around the coastline and lot of steps to climb as we explored the remains of the castle and Merlin's cave down on the beach.

We went back into the village and had a cream tea at the King Arthur's Arms.

and a walk around the village before going home.
