Off this morning to Whitby. As we don't check in until 3pm, we stopped off at Bowes Castle for a quick look and then again at Stockton on Tees where we had some lunch and a look around the town/shops.
Picked up our apartment keys from the laundry and check ourselves in.
Great views along the river and the steam train arrives soon after us for a nice chuff chuff view. Should be a great week.
Wednesday 5th April
Sunny day on the coast. After breakfast we walk into Whitby and look around for a couple of hours, walk out on the wind pier and then pick up some chip butties and pork rolls for lunch and spend a good few hours crabbing under the bridge.
Thursday 6th April
off to Scarborough this morning to buy a new camera, pick up a jacket and get some roller glider shoe thingy's from Aldi for Holly. All our jobs and completed quickly and so we drive up to the castle for a walk around the headland which was obscured by gale force winds on our last visit. Then we make our way down onto the sea front for some lunch and an icecream.
Friday 7th April
Fossil and jet hunting at Runswick bay
Saturday 8th April
Rugby at Bridlington today, so we set off early and go first to Bempton Cliffs for some puffin spotting. Spent an hour or so on the cliffs before leaving to take Aaron to rugby then the kids and I went back for the afternoon.
Sunday 9th April
back to Runswick Bay this morning for some more fossil hunting, then across to Staithes for a look and a spot of lunch. The temperature climbed to the early 20's and people were our in droves, flocking to the shore with their buckets, umbrellas and windbreaks.
We planned to stop at the Sandsend Duck Race but with all the beach goers there was not a park to be found so we returned home for some serious crabbing at the apartment.
Monday 10 April
Contrary to weather forecasts the day begins sunny. We walk into town and get Holly a quick haircut then walk along the coastal path to the lighthouse beyond Saltwick.
